CADartet Vray and Mental Ray Pool Water Materials v2 for 3DS Max

This is the 2nd version of CADartet Pool Water Materials for Vray and Mental Ray, now with 26 pool water material shaders.
- 10 clear pool water shaders
- 14 algae and muddy pool water shaders
- 2 surface algae pool water shaders (experimental)
Compatible with 3DS Max 2009 and newer and Vray 2.4 and newer.

Important note for Mental ray users - "color at max distance problem":

   Not sure if it is a bug, it happens closer to the water surface edge, under shadows, the color transition with depth is very rough, making a noticeable line. Only happens using Final Gather, and no matter if the water surface is a plane or a solid. Increasing Final Gather settings doesn't fix the problem and increases render times. Interpolation doesn't fix it either. This happens with any transparent arch and design material using "color at max distance", even with pre-made transparent template arch and design materials.

   The only fix for this problem is making sure "force 2 sided" in render settings "common params" is turned OFF, and turning ON "back facing culling" inside the arch and design material settings (advanced rendering options). Check image below.

CADartet Leaf Chair 3D model

   CADartet's original concept chair design, "Leaf chair", was modeled at real scale (cm) in 3DS Max 9 and rendered with V-Ray 1.5 and Mental Ray. Original render scenes not included.

   Original MAX pack includes a lowres (original file) and a highres version, with standard gray material applied so no extra plug-ins necessary, V-Ray and Mental Ray material libraries with 9 different types of materials (Ash, Beech, Birch, Cherry, Oak and Walnut wood types). They must be applied separately. The 3d model is centered at origin and it's UVs are unwrapped without overlapping.

   All textures, in jpg format at a 3072x3072 resolution, include diffuse, reflection/glossy and bump maps. All other packages (3DS, FBX, OBJ) include the 3d model lowres and highres files only. Model mapped UVs not guaranteed. Materials are not included.

Free iray studio scene

   Digital artist Jeff Patton has released an iray studio scene, "with multiple HDR environments", for free. This kind of scenes simulate real world photo studio environment, very useful for 3D objects presentations, and material shaders testing. This scene is for 3DS Max and iray users.

Skram Fade Arm Chair 3D model

   3D model replica of Skram's Fade Arm Chair, modeled at real scale in 3DS Max 9 and rendered with V-Ray 1.5 and Mental Ray. Original render scenes not included.

They include diffuse maps for patterns nº1 and 5 (patterns 2, 3 and 4 use material color swatch for diffuse), and 5 bump maps, also used in reflection/glossiness material slots. Pattern 1 leather materials, simulating dirtier leather, are better suited for small size 3d models, like cushions, although they can be used in bigger 3D models, like sofas, by turning off the diffuse map slot and using the material color swatch instead.

Free Vray and Mental Ray Pool water Materials for 3DS Max

   This is a free pack of 9 Pool water materials for Vray (v1.5 and up) and Mental Ray, for 3DS Max 9 and newer versions. CADartet Poolwater Pack includes 4 clear pool water materials, 4 pool water algae and 1 pool water algae/mud.

   All materials are tweaked for 3D models of swimming pools with a depth up to 3m. Mental Ray version includes vray's version bump map and a ocean lume map (in the displacement slot, turned off), so you can choose between one of them.

"Boomerang" Bridge 3D Model - week 3

   In this third week with "Boomerang" Bridge 3D modeling, I have made the lamp poles and the uvw mapping of all 3d objects done. The model is still using basic materials just to test and set the color balance and the lights. I decided not to do the train/metro rails, and increased the road lanes to 6 each way instead.
   Below you can see some render tests of the artificial lighting. I'm using 3ds max photometric lights with real ies files of a led street light. I'm also using a volumetric light effect for the lights. I've tested different color temperatures for the lighting and below I leave you examples for 3500k, 4500k and 6000k.

"Boomerang" Bridge 3D Model - week 2

   This is the progress made till the end of 2nd week of modeling the "Boomerang" Bridge. Added the railings, lane railing walls, cables and anchors. The model is now over 1 Million polygons.

   All cables and railings are just splines, so I can control the resolution. The walls were made with loft. The cable anchors have a turbosmooth modifier allowing me to control the resolution as needed.

Next I'll be doing the lighting posts.

"Boomerang" Bridge 3D model - progress

   This is my latest design, still in progress, of an arch bridge. I named it 

"Boomerang" Bridge because the design concept is based on the shape of 

a boomerang. The bridge has a total of 10 lanes (3,5m wide each), with 

central space for 2 train/metro tracks, or 2 additional lanes. 

   The supporting arch is 927m long, 276m high and 100m wide. The lane

deck is 896m long, 15,5m high and 68m wide. The 3d model is being done

with 3ds Max 9.

Cork Chaise Longue 3D model

   3D model replica of Daniel Michalik's Cork Chaise Longue, modeled at 

real scale using 3DS Max 9, and rendered with vray 1.5 and 3DS Max 9 

Mental Ray. Original render scenes not included.

 

   Original Max pack includes all textures in jpeg format (2 diffuse and 

2 bump/reflection mask maps at 2048x2048 resolution, all seamless),

original Vray, Mental Ray and Standard materials, and 2 different .max 

files - lowres and highres model versions. Original Max models come with

standard materials applied, so no plug-ins are needed. For Vray and
Mental Ray renders, materials must be applied.

   The 3D model is a Editable Poly with a Box UVW mapping with real 

world map size modifier applied, and all texture maps at real world scale 

(25cmx25cm). The cork diffuse texture maps come in 2 different looks,

one new/clean and one old/dirty look. All polygons in highres model are
quads.

   Also available in Obj and FBX formats. Both packs include all texture 

maps (same as original max pack), 1 highres model and 1 lowres model 

version. Materials not included in these format packs.

New Swimex 1000S 3D model preview

As you know, I have been doing some remodeling of my Swimex swim spa therapy pools. Swimex 1000 was the one left, but after some weeks I have finished the modeling part.
I leave you with a rough preview render, made with vray 1.5 and using low settings.

Still need some tweaking, and I'll probably have to make a new scene environment, because this 3d model is bigger than previous ones.
This product will include a pack of  Swimex 1000S and 1000T versions with 14, 16 and 18 feet.
This products will also be selling individually, with lower prices.

Swimex 500 S 3D model updated

Following recent updates on the Swimex swim spas 3D models from
CADartet Design Labs, this is the time for Swimex 500 S 3D model.
Like previous 3D models, it was made in 3ds Max 9 and rendered with vray 1.5.
It includes .max, .fbx and .obj file formats, with textures that range from medium to high resolution.
The package  comes with an high and low resolution version.
